Application Process
Obtain a position description from our jobs portal.
GMCT offers positions on the basis of merit. Please provide us with information that shows how your qualifications, experience, skills and abilities match the position requirements.
Prepare a covering letter that:
- addresses all key selection criteria
- outlines your relevant skills and work experience
While there is no right or wrong way to present your application, addressing the key selection criteria increases your chance for an interview.
Attach a resume containing:
- full name, address and telephone number
- work experience summary (organisations, positions, periods of employment and brief details of duties)
- details of relevant qualifications or education (certificates/documents may be requested during the interview process)
- other relevant information.
Submit your application in time.
All applications close at 5pm on the closing date. Applications receive an automated reply to acknowledge receipt. If you don’t receive this reply within 24 hours, please email the Human Resources team at talent@gmct.com.au.
Shortlisting
Applicants are shortlisted within two weeks of the closing date. Our selection process follows the principles of merit and equality. We strive to be fair and consistent as everyone deserves an equal chance.
Interviewing
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview. We aim to provide at least two working days’ notice. Please inform us if you have special requirements.
First interview
You will usually meet the hiring manager and another team member, who want to discuss your skills and experience and how they relate to GMCT. Unsuccessful candidates are informed and provided with an opportunity for feedback.
Second interview
If the first interview goes well, you will be invited again to discuss practical tasks and explore new questions. You might also meet other team members and prospective stakeholders.
Reference checks
We will contact two professional referees, including a previous manager, to get a sense of how you work.
National police check, traffic check, work entitlement check and pre-employment medical
Appointment is subject to a satisfactory result of these checks.
If you are the best candidate and have passed all the checks, we will offer you the position.
Probationary period
This is an opportunity (3 months for EBA staff and 6 months for non-EBA staff) for both parties to ensure that the match is successful. A demonstrated commitment to the GMCT Staff Code of Conduct, principles and values, as well as your ability to meet expected performance standards and competencies, are essential.
